Banarsi Kattan Silk Saree
Woven in Varanasi and finished by hand, this saree is made from pure Banarsi Kattan silk — a fabric known for its dense, lustrous weave and the way it holds its shape across a long evening. The embellishment is worked in kora, dabka and zardozi, applied by skilled artisans in a pattern that rewards close attention without announcing itself from across the room.
Kattan silk is among the heavier Banarsi weaves, with a structure that drapes in clean, considered folds rather than soft cascades. The zardozi work is raised and dimensional; the kora and dabka sit flat against the ground fabric, creating contrast in texture rather than colour. This is a piece made for weddings, formal receptions and occasions where the fabric itself is the statement. Nothing about it is hurried.
